The Simpvarks by BakerChemi The Simpvarks by BakerChemi
The Read Family as a dysfunctional family?! This is a fun portrayal of Arthur and his family (from the PBS cartoon series ARTHUR) as the Simpson family. From left to right, we have Arthur's dad Dave as Homer, Arthur's mom Jane as Marge, Arthur as Bart, D.W. as Lisa, and baby sister Kate as Maggie. I drew this all freehand on MS Paint. C&C welcome!

I don't watch the Simpsons because I'm not allowed to but back in May 2013 there was a guest appearance by the Icelandic band Sigur Rós (I LOVE THOSE GUYS!!! ) but they were only there for a few seconds.

This does not surprise me.  THE SIMPSONS and ARTHUR to me are very similar and in this way:

The Main Families of the two shows have a father, a mother, a first-born son, a next born daughter, and a last daughter that's a baby.  In other words:

Homer Simpson-David Read
Marge Simpson-Jane Read
Bart Simpson-Arthur Read
Lisa Simpson-Dora Winifred
Maggie Simpson-Baby Kate

Oh and let's not forget Santa's Little Helper and Pal.

Both American cartoons, well ARTHUR is Canadian but takes place in the U.S.  Real people have guest-starred on both cartoons.  Bart Simpson and Arthur Read's best friends are only-childs (Milhouse Van Houten and Buster Baxter).  And these were old cartoons (THE SIMPSONS est. 1989; ARTHUR est. 1996) upgraded and brought into the 20th Century, such as the addition of cell phones, internet, etc.

Differences other than every character on THE SIMPSONS are human (though the White/Caucasian characters are yellow) and every character on ARTHUR are various anthropomorphic animals and absolutely no actual humans are in the show: THE SIMPSONS is a more adult oriented show and ARTHUR is a more little-kid oriented show, although some adults like me watch the show.  Although on one episode of Arthur, profanity was included but before you get any ideas, they were all in the form of "BLEEP" and it wasn't for entertainment, but according to another website, probably Wikipedia or Arthur Wiki, it was to teach children that it is highly inappropriate to use swear words, which is notorious on the Simpsons although thankfully not all swear words are used.

Another crazy thing and I'm sorry if I sound nasty-mouthed but in at least two ARTHUR episodes, urinals were featured (the episode where Arthur, Francine, Brain, and Buster dare each other to skip school, and the episode about the head lice).  Now for some reason they don't include that anymore despite it being the Boy's Bathroom, probably because it was inappropriate.

But for some time, I knew that THE SIMPSONS and ARTHUR were very similar to each other in some ways.  In fact one more similarity they have with each other, both cartoons, well two-dimensional animated shows have aired for way more than a decade and they are the longest running animated series in the world, THE SIMPSONS running for over two decades and ARTHUR lasting for almost two decades, which really amazes me.  And I hope ARTHUR can last longer than 19 seasons.  That cartoon has come a long way and I don't look forward to its cancellation.

I like THE SIMPSONS, been watching it since I was 4 although I don't watch every episode, but I like ARTHUR more, it's a much cleaner show and animals are used instead of humans, and I've watched it once in December 1996 for the first time, and started watching it more regularly since late 2001 if not sooner.

I would have thought "Readsons" would be just as amusing.
